I created these catacombs as a part of a group level design project at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. I designed them as a series of small prefabs that could be snapped together to build the catacombs section of the level. This allowed us maximum flexibility for iterating on the level design as we could simply rearrange the pieces of the level to change the layout. The torches and sconces were created by my teammate, Tyler Niemi, while I created the base geometry for the level prefabs as well as authoring the UV layouts, textures and additional props like rubble piles and barrels. I then brought the assets into Unity for lighting, particle effects, and render effects.
These renders are captured in game from a first person controller and show the types of looks achievable with just a few prefabs which primarily share the same few texture sheets.
Below are wireframes of some of the prefab sections used in the level.
